School History

Phoenix Elementary School was built following the flood of 1997. The idea to build a new school developed following the decision to close Lincoln Elementary and Belmont Elementary schools following the flood. Phoenix Elementary was built on the old Belmont Road and Fourth Avenue South site. The school opened on the site of Belmont Elementary School in 1998 at a cost of $8 million.
